Damages to Hollinger

1. Damages to Hollinger

Here is just a quick update on the damage to Hollinger Field in the Lee flooding. It was mainly limited to the fencing, but even that can get expensive to fix. As you can see we lost most of the outfield fencing, and some of the right field bullpen. We hope to have it back up for the Spring season.

2. Hollinger Before Construction.

This is what it all looked like before any work was started.  Notice how home plate was down by the creek.  This meant we had a washed out field each time it flooded.  Playing conditions were not that great, and we could not invite other towns over to play here.

3. Half Way There!

This is what it looked like during construction. What a difference!  Now home plate is up by the road, we have dugouts for the kids, a press box and concession stand.  Once done, we will be proud to host games with teams from out of town!

Update to Hollinger Damages

Just a quick update to the damages at Hollinger field. Currently we are working with FEMA to get the fence damages covered. It looks like that will happen before the start of the season! Also we want to give a huge thanks to Rapho Township for funding the field surface repairs, they brought in topsoil, reseeded, and added Diamond-Tex to the field to repair the damage the flood waters caused the field. In the spring we will top dress the field and bring it up to playing condition. We could not do this without the help that they provided. Stay tuned for pictures as the field comes back into playing condition!

Damage to Hollinger Field

As many of you are aware, downtown Manheim took a lot of damage from the flooding. Hollinger Field was no exception. While the field is still there, we did lose some of the outfield fencing, as well as the outfield fence down the first base line. Unfortunately it looks like the field will not be in playable condition for this year’s fall season. We will work as hard as we can to get it up and running for the coming Spring season, but finances are stretched a bit thin. We have already had several donations, but would appreciate any donations, either in labor or in money. We will be having several work days at the field, please call Harry Urban if interested in helping at 468-5551. If interested in making a cash donation please make checks payable to MCLLPA and mail them to P.O. Box 165, Manheim PA 17545. Thank you for your continued support! MCLLPA Board

Who we are

Manheim Central Little League Parents Association (MCLLPA) is a non-profit organization whose sole purpose is to raise funds to benefit Manheim’s youth baseball players. Our current project is Hollinger Field. While the field is usable, and was used last year for several games, there are still several things that we would like to complete. To do this we need the continued support of the community. We will be doing several fund raisers this year, as well as our apparel sale. Once Hollinger is completed we will discuss the next project that will benefit our youth within the Manheim baseball community. We as a board would like to thank you for your continued support. We invite you to join us at our monthly meetings. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact any one of our board members.
